paint, lighting, & fixtures
Well…where do I start? It seems like it has been forever since I was able to write an update. To say that construction has been a nightmare, is an understatement. There was weeks on end when the contractors did not show up and there was no justifiable excuse to reason with. But-I can FINALLY see the light!
Where are we now?
The inspection of electrical, plumbing, flooring and overhead roofing has been complete. There is paint on the walls, flooring has been laid, lighting has been hung, and appliances were delivered this week. The toilet and sinks are in, but they are not usable as of today. The beautiful hardwood floors have been laid and the second coat of paint has been applied to the walls and ceiling.
How long did this process take?
The construction started on January 28th, 2019. The GC promised to have the job completed in 30 days. Obviously that was NOT the case. Fast forward to March 28th, the very last date of our GC’s contract, that stated even in the event of inclement weather the job would be complete by March 28th. March 28th came around and the flooring had not even been laid. That means no cabinets, no toilets, no paint, no lighting….pretty much a vacant shell with sheet-rock. From April 4th-April 28th there was NOTHING accomplished that the eye could visually see. Starting April 29th through today (May 11th), plumbing has been installed, HVAC hooked up, toilet and sinks installed, hardwoods laid, lighting hung and second coat of paint completed. What seemed to take only 30 days has turned into a 4 month project.
What does it look like?
What is next?
This week (Tuesday May 14th) we are having our final inspection. All cabinets, mirrors, cash wrap, vanity, bar, bench, etc will be installed on Monday. Once we pass final inspection, which is called the “CO” (Certificate of Operation), then the cleaning and organizing process starts. It will take several days to possibly a week to get all stylist chairs put together, all retail on display, the facial rooms set up, makeup area set up, register and software running and SO much more.
