Salicylic Acid helps dissolve the type of skin debris that causes clogged pores. These clogged pores then cause acne. The Salicylic acid essentially reduces the number of skin cells within the pore.

  Does acne get worse before it gets better?

  It is VERY possible that it could get worse for a short time before getting better. But, this short amount of time should not last more than 10 days. Acne is a result of oil buildup, bacteria or irritation of the skin. It will take a few days for the Salicylic acid to start working and completely clearing out the skin cell debris in the pore. But-it should NOT get worse. If your acne is getting worse after 14 days, consult your skin specialist.
