Expert Tips for Choosing the Best Skincare Products
Share
When it comes to skincare, choosing the right products makes all the difference. With so many options on the market, knowing where to start is genuinely overwhelming. Here is how I talk clients through it.
Understand Your Skin Type
The first step is knowing what you are working with. Oily, dry, combination or sensitive skin all need different things. Take the time to assess your skin type before you buy anything, and remember that dehydrated skin and dry skin are not the same problem.
Read the Ingredients List
Look at what is actually in the bottle. If your skin is reactive, added fragrance is the most common culprit, so start there. Preservatives get a bad name, but they are what stops a product growing bacteria, so the question is which preservative rather than whether there is one at all.
Consider Your Skin Concerns
Do you have specific concerns such as breakouts, aging or hyperpigmentation? Look for products that target those issues with ingredients known to address them. For anything medical, a dermatologist is the right call.
Do Your Research
Read reviews, ask people whose skin you admire, and look at what skincare professionals recommend rather than what is trending. Informed decisions beat impulse buys every time.
Start with a Simple Routine
Start simple. A gentle cleanser, a moisturizer and a sunscreen. Introduce serums, exfoliants and masks one at a time, so that when something reacts you know what caused it.
If you would rather not work it out alone, that is exactly what I am here for. Book a skin care consultation and I will look at your skin, go through what you are using, and build a routine you will actually keep up with. A facial is another good way for me to see how your skin behaves.
