What microchanneling is
ProCell microchanneling was developed by dermatologist Dr. Mitchell Schwartz for patients who, in ProCell's words, wanted real results without the irritation and downtime of aggressive needling. The device uses a refined vertical stamping technique that creates tiny, uniform channels in the skin with precision, prompting the skin's natural renewal and carrying ProCell's growth factor serum beneath the surface where it is most effective. Because the channels are shallow and evenly placed, the skin settles quickly: ProCell's guidance is that most clients return to their day after about ninety minutes.
Comfort during treatment
ProCell's own guidance is that most clients have the treatment comfortably without numbing cream. Numbing is available on request, and Caroline checks in with you throughout.
LED, mask and serums included
Every session ends with fifteen minutes of LED light therapy and the ProCell cooling mask. A pair of the ProCell MD aftercare serums is also included to take home, to be used twice a day from the morning after your session.
Performed by Caroline
Caroline completed ProCell's certification training in September 2026 and performs every session personally, observing how your skin responds and adjusting as she works.
The treatment
Why clients choose microchanneling at Skin by Caroline
Microchanneling works beneath the surface, where skincare alone cannot reach, and was designed for the results of needling without the irritation and downtime. That is why most clients start here. Each session is tailored to your skin: Caroline adjusts the treatment as she observes how your skin responds. For the best results, a series of three to six sessions is recommended, and booking a series saves on the price of each session.
- Numbing available on request for your comfort
- LED, cooling mask and aftercare serums included
- $299 for your first session, $350 thereafter

After your treatment
What to expect afterward
-
The first ninety minutes
Some flushing, similar to a light sunburn, is expected, and the skin may feel warm or tight. Nothing should be applied to the skin and nothing should touch it during this time: no sunscreen, no makeup and no phone held against the cheek.
-
The first day
Sunscreen and makeup may be applied once the ninety minutes have passed. Caroline recommends avoiding direct sun and keeping the skin well hydrated.
-
The days after
From the next morning, the two-step aftercare pair is applied twice a day to clean skin. Acids, vitamin C and prescription retinoids should be paused for two to three days.
This follows ProCell's own aftercare guidance. Who should wait, and how to prepare, is covered in the questions below and on each session page.
Who it is for
For skin that has started to look tired: lines, texture, pores and tone. Caroline will tell you at your consultation if it is not the right fit.
- Fine lines and the first signs of aging
- Uneven texture or enlarged pores
- Uneven tone
- The appearance of acne scarring
- Skin that has lost some firmness
Common questions
The appointment lasts about an hour. Caroline examines your skin first, then cleanses and prepares it. She works the ProCell device across the treatment area in a stamping motion with a ProCell serum, adjusting as she goes to how your skin is responding. Fifteen minutes of LED light therapy follows, then the ProCell cooling mask. You leave with a pair of the ProCell MD aftercare serums and instructions for the days that follow.
The price covers the full ProCell protocol. ProCell designed microchanneling as a treatment together with an aftercare routine for the days that follow, so the price includes the session with Caroline, fifteen minutes of LED light therapy, the ProCell cooling mask, and a pair of the ProCell MD aftercare serums to take home: Step 1, the Cellular Renewal Serum, and Step 2, the Healing Accelerator, 5 ml each, to use twice a day from the morning after. The same pair is $62 on its own at the spa. Caroline holds ProCell's certification and performs every session herself, from start to finish.
Most clients find it more comfortable than they expected. ProCell's own guidance is that most clients have the treatment without numbing cream and without any real pain. What is noticeable is the sound of the device and some mild discomfort while it works, and afterward a tight feeling in the skin rather than soreness. If you would prefer not to feel much at all, Caroline offers a topical numbing cream before she begins. Please mention it when you book. She explains each step before she starts and checks in with you as she goes, and the LED and the mask at the end are the calm part of the hour.
Microchanneling is gentle, but it is not suitable for everyone. Following ProCell's guidance, Caroline will not treat you if you are pregnant or nursing, have an active cold sore in the treatment area, have uncontrolled diabetes, hepatitis, hemophilia or a heart condition, have a history of keloid scarring above the neck or a chronic skin condition, or have taken Accutane in the last six months. Severe or cystic acne needs to calm down first; mild active acne is fine. She will also ask about blood thinners, recent peels or laser, recent Botox or fillers, radiation or chemotherapy, and steroids or anti-inflammatories, so please be ready to mention them. To prepare, give your skin a short break from active ingredients: pause vitamin C, acids and over-the-counter retinol for two to three days before your session, and prescription retinoids such as Retin-A or Differin for a full week. Please arrive with clean skin and no makeup.
Some flushing is expected immediately after the session, similar to a light sunburn, and the skin may feel warm, tight or slightly itchy for the rest of the day. ProCell describes this as the expected response. For the first 90 minutes, nothing should go on the treated skin and nothing should touch it, including sunscreen and makeup. After that, sunscreen and makeup are fine. Direct sun should be avoided for the first 24 hours, and the skin kept well hydrated. From the next morning, the two-step ProCell aftercare pair is used twice a day on clean skin, Step 1 then Step 2, and acids, vitamin C and prescription retinoids are paused for two to three days.
Both create tiny channels in the skin that prompt its own renewal. Microneedling pens work at a greater depth and move across the skin, and the skin stays red for a few days afterward. ProCell microchanneling uses a vertical stamping technique that, in ProCell's words, channels the skin with precision at a consistent, shallow depth, and was developed for patients who wanted real results without the irritation and downtime of aggressive needling. The recovery is about ninety minutes. For most clients that makes microchanneling the place to start. Caroline offers both and will recommend the one that suits your skin and your goals.
Caroline recommends a series. Three sessions is the usual starting point and six is the full series, spaced several weeks apart. The series of three and series of six are purchased as packages, and each session is booked individually.
Use the booking button on this page. Your appointment opens with microchanneling already selected. A deposit holds the appointment and is applied to the treatment.

Refined with Caroline is my own practice in Rock Hill, South Carolina. I am a licensed esthetician, and I perform every appointment personally from start to finish.
I assess your skin before every session, and if microchanneling is not the right treatment for you on the day, I will say so. If microneedling, a peel or a facial would serve you better, that is what I will recommend.

Consultations
If you are not sure which treatment to book
Book a skin care consultation. Caroline will assess your skin, discuss the products and treatments you have used, and recommend whether to begin with microchanneling, microneedling, a peel or a facial.
If you have a question about anything on this page, please call or text. Caroline is happy to talk it through with you.
How microchanneling compares with other treatments
Microchanneling and microneedling work on the same principle: tiny channels in the skin that prompt its own renewal. The difference is how the channels are made and what happens afterward. Microneedling pens work at a greater depth and leave the skin red for a few days. ProCell's vertical stamping technique channels the skin with precision at a consistent, shallow depth, the recovery is about ninety minutes, and the session finishes with LED light therapy, the cooling mask and a pair of aftercare serums to carry the treatment forward at home. For most clients that makes microchanneling the place to start, and a series fits into an ordinary schedule without planning around it. Microneedling is the choice for clients who specifically want the deeper treatment and can allow the downtime. BioRePeel resurfaces with a solution rather than needles, for anyone who would prefer to avoid them entirely. If you are unsure, Caroline will recommend the right starting point at a consultation.
