Frequently Asked
A chemical peel uses a controlled application of acids to remove the outermost layers of dead skin. This accelerates cell turnover, revealing smoother, brighter skin underneath. Depending on the peel, it can reduce fine lines, sun damage, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and uneven texture.
Caroline will assess your skin type, concerns, and sensitivity during your appointment to recommend the best option. Lighter peels like the Lactic Acid Peel are great for sensitive skin and first-timers, while stronger options like the Glytone Glycolic or BioRePeel target more advanced concerns like deep texture issues or aging.
It depends on the peel. Lighter peels may cause minimal flaking, while deeper peels can produce more noticeable shedding over 3 to 7 days. Caroline will explain exactly what to expect for the specific peel you receive and how to care for your skin during the healing process.
Most clients benefit from a peel every 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the type of peel and their skin goals. Caroline will recommend a treatment schedule that works for your skin and lifestyle. Some peels can also be done as a one-time treatment before a special event.
Certain chemical peels are not recommended during pregnancy. If you are pregnant or nursing, please let Caroline know before scheduling so she can recommend the safest and most appropriate treatment for your skin.
Avoid sun exposure for 7 to 10 days after your peel and wear SPF daily. If you use Retin-A or prescription acne or rosacea products, discontinue them at least 5 days before and after treatment. Caroline will provide detailed pre- and post-care instructions tailored to your specific peel.
